CommuniCat - Cat Translation ("we", "our", "us") operates the CommuniCat mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.
1. Information We Collect
Information collected automatically:
- Anonymous User ID: We create an anonymous identifier using Firebase Authentication. This ID is not linked to your name, email, or any personal account.
- App usage data: We collect basic analytics about how you use the app (screens viewed, features used) through Firebase Analytics.
- Device information: Standard device data such as device model, operating system version, and app version for crash reporting and performance monitoring.
Information you provide:
- Cat photos: Photos you take or select are sent to Google Gemini AI for analysis. Photos are processed in real-time and are not stored on our servers. Photos are saved locally on your device only.
- Language preference: Your selected language (English or Turkish) is stored locally on your device.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the cat translation service (sending photos to Google Gemini AI)
- To save your translation history on your device
- To manage daily energy credits
- To display advertisements (for free users)
- To process in-app purchases and manage subscription status
- To improve app performance and fix bugs

Free users see advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may use device identifiers and usage data to serve personalized or contextual ads. Premium subscribers do not see any advertisements.
5. In-App Purchases
CommuniCat offers premium subscriptions (monthly and yearly) through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We do not collect or store any payment information.
6. Data Storage and Security
- Translation history is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, associated with your anonymous user ID.
- Photos are stored locally on your device only — they are not uploaded to or stored on our servers.
- Language preference and app settings are stored locally on your device.
- We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile screen in the app. When you delete your account:
- Your translation history is permanently deleted from our database.
- Your user record and credits are permanently deleted.
- Your anonymous authentication account is deleted.
- Locally stored data (photos, preferences) remain on your device until you uninstall the app.
8. Children's Privacy
CommuniCat is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Delete your account and data (via the app's Profile screen)
- Clear your translation history (via the app's Profile or History screen)
- Opt out of personalized advertising (via your device settings)
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
